3.5 / 5Absolutely a fantastic place Steven and Lynn absolutely cannot do enough for us. Had dinner there in the dining area with my father food was absolutely fantastic. This in my books is the top senior living facility in Montreal
This place has a fancy lobby and that's about it. If your family member needs to be on the 3rd floor due to memory or mobility issues, you can forget about them getting to participate in activities. There is not a single activity done for them on the 3rd floor. I bought some art kits for old folks (painting with water, puzzles) and I asked the staff if we could leave them in the main area (3rd floor) so residents could enjoy them but I was told no. They literally do not have a single thing for them to do, it's unreal. There's not even a comfortable seating area in the main room with the tv. It's either sit in your own room alone or sit in a hard chair in front of a horrible tv show. Old equipment, no lifts for helping residents into bed, my grandma had to be pushed in a wheelchair without a footrest for over a year, causing her feet to bounce along the floor whenever someone moved her. Which in turn caused a knee issue for her. Just disgusting how this place treats their residents. Please don't put your family members here, I've seen residents arrive on their first day with hope in their eyes for their new home, and watched their spirit change completely over time. No ambience at all (besides the show-y first floor), the dining area on the third floor never has any music or even an interesting tv show playing. Every time I ate with my grandma I was heartbroken at the sad energy in the dining area. I heard one staff member tell an older resident that at her age she shouldn't be walking and should just be resting all day. This is the opposite of the truth, it's super important to keep moving our bodies daily as we age, it's been proven. The staff is nice enough and I love their Caribbean and Filipino energies - but I suspect they're overworked and was told by a couple that they're only paid minimum wage!!! We moved my grandma to a government run home now and the difference is insane! Please please, if you love your family member do not let them live here ..
Incompetent Management. More focused on the dollars than the residents. There are far better options for your loved ones.
We visited a range of residences looking for one for our mother, and the way I would describe Westmount One is it felt like a place to live and for the living - everything about it felt lively and engaging.
I feel horrible that my grandmother is placed here, now too fragile to be moved. The management staff had the audacity to physically remove my 6 year old son’s arm off of a communal sofa in the lobby because he was driving a plastic car on it. The food quality is so poor that it is undoubtedly contributing to the deterioration of the residents. I will be making an official complaint to the CIUSSS connected to the deplorable, money-grabbing institution.
