My partner and I have been here for 5 years and it is wonderful. The meals, the care and the staff. It is fantastic.

When my father was admitted, I went every day, sometimes twice a day. People asked me for favors (filling water bottles, juice, etc.). I felt like I was taking the burden off the staff, and I was just standing there doing nothing, so why not help? The administration had painted a very rosy picture: your father can come with his tray, there are always unlimited salads, he can ask for whatever he wants, and if he doesn't like it, we can always offer him something else or a sandwich… everything was amazing!!! (FALSE)!!! The residents don't do this for fear of being reprimanded, but especially for fear of bothering the (kitchen) staff, who aren't always smiling. I asked for a sandwich one lunchtime because it was a large plate of pork, and I was firmly turned away: there are no sandwiches at lunchtime!!! I said, "Okay, so what are his options?" The answer was, "Nothing." He has the choice of eating what's on the menu or nothing. They serve them what they have and they have to make do with it. A kitchen worker rudely told my father, "My name isn't... hey, my name is..." because he didn't know his name and had asked her, "Hey? Could I have some milk for my coffee?" The next morning at breakfast, she threw a box of tissues at the table, which slammed against the wall. This is elder abuse. All because he didn't know his name. This same kitchen worker also subjected my aunt to psychological abuse when she came to stay for five days from Vancouver because my father is terminally ill with cancer and waiting to be transferred to a hospice. My aunt: A woman of exemplary gentleness, the aforementioned kitchen employee brought her to tears simply because my aunt asked for utensils and went to get coffee for my father after his meal, as it's usually served in the café and is cold by the time he drinks it. The employee persisted, thinking my aunt was taking things for herself, until my aunt finally told her that was enough. A similar incident had occurred before I was there, and other times before that, as the residents have told me. It's worrying (I would like to clarify, however, that the support staff on the floors are not involved and are very professional). Regarding dinner, my father eats at 4 p.m., and they don't offer anything unless the person requests a snack at the end of their meal. It's offered at breakfast, and when the owners are present, no one dares ask for cookies for the evening, seemingly thinking the lady doesn't want to spend money on them.

Hello, My mother has lived at this residence for two and a half years. She was very happy there; she received excellent care, good food, and felt safe. The staff were honest, polite, and kind. They were always attentive to the residents. The nursing staff were highly competent. It always smelled pleasant. It was clean and well-maintained. The place is steeped in history, even over a century old. I highly recommend this residence. Thank you to the entire team for all the excellent care. Line Pelletier Daughter of Darisse Levesque
