4.4 / 5I had an appointment with Mr. Jean Carrière to learn about residences for my mother. Mr. Carrière took the time to show me around and answer my questions with incredible kindness! I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the facilities and the range of activities available to retirees. This gives me confidence regarding my mother's future in this residence. I highly recommend this place!
Delicious and more ✨❣️ Thank you so much! It makes me want to live in Cité Jardin and shop at the local bistro where you can buy prepared meals. 😋
Dinner on September 24th at Chartwell Cité-Jardin/Gatineau. Warm welcome, impeccable service, and a hearty, interesting, and tasty meal. The chef explained the various courses, which made the experience even more interesting. A very pleasant evening, which made the whole experience very convivial. We'll repeat it, and thank you for inviting us. Yours sincerely, Mr. Baron
Visited Chartwell Cite-Jardin 'open door' concept yesterday. Very pleasant tour of the residence showing us all the activities, dining areas and services offered to the residents. All these discoveries surpassed my expectations. Thank you very much Jacques Légaré, Rental counselor for this pleasant tour of Chartwell. 😁
My friend's mother lived at this residence in the area where she required more care. It was horrible! The care is non existant. The staff is constantly at the nurses station behind the glass window on their phones. Her mom was hospitalized for a fractured pelvis. She returned to the residence. When I went to visit the next day I found her crying. She had terrible pain. When I asked the nurse when she received her analgesics she looked it up. No one had given her anything for pain since her arrival from the hospital which was the night| before. One nurse also stated that she wasn’t even aware that she had gone to the hospital. They had no instructions from the hospital regarding her activity level. She couldn't even walk. She had so much pain. I asked the nurse in charge to make sure that they gave her some analgesic every 4 hours and to check on her frequently. I was told that would be done. When I returned the next day I found my friend's mom crying in pain again. No meds were given for over 6 h at that time. The nurse got upset at me when I complained. I had rang the call bell and after 10 mins no one answered it. I had to go to the front desk where they were again all on their phones to tell them to answer the bell that the patient had to go to the bathroom. No one was checking up on her. She was crawling to the bathroom and was incontinent on the floor. It was horrible. I had also asked the coordinator how come no one called the hospital to ask about the discharge instructions for her fracture. She answered me do you know that when you call the hospital no one answers. Really? Second issue. The food is always served cold. They don't offer any condiments with their food. No butter, spices nothing! We always had to ask to warm it up and bring the condiments. 3 rd issue is safety. I was told that they had found my friend's mom in the bathtub filled with H20. She had dementia. She could of burned herself, drowned, fell etc. I asked them how come she was able to enter the bathroom on her own. He told me that the door is suppose to be locked. This was a year ago. Every time I went to visit the door was wide open. 4 th issue. Entertainment. My friend was mostly the one who would bring her mom to see the shows. There was one woman that lived there for over a year. She was there because of physical disabilities. She had all of her mental capabilities. We went to see a show and I noticed that she wasn't there. When I asked her how come she didn't go she stated that no one in the entire year she lived there no one had asked her if she wanted to attend. She was always in her room doing nothing. Very sad. This woman loved music and was never brought to one show. This week they called my friend and told her she had to move her mother out within 24 h. That they found her a long term care bed. She had no choice. We had to move her out the next day. I must say she is now moved to Champlain residence in gatineau. What a relief. She was seen by every service available the first day. The staff is amazing there compared to this residence. Do NOT place your loved one here. I'm a nurse. I have never seen such negligence in my life!
