CHSLD Vigi Pierrefonds

My mother passed away at Vigi Pierrefonds six months ago. The nursing staff who was supposed to be taking care of her was negligent. They did not call the emergency doctor of the facility after detecting that her pulse was weak and her blood pressure was low, and waited 40 minutes to call 911. She passed away before the ambulance arrived to take her to a hospital. The nursing staff did not call me either to inform me that she was having those symptoms despite asking senior management to have their nursing staff do that as soon as my mom would be experiencing any kind of health problems, particularly if it was an emergency. A month after she passed away, I sent an email to the President and CEO of Vigi Santé cc’ing his executive assistant and the director of Vigi Pierrefonds asking him questions about the actions or better said, inaction of the nursing staff that led to my mom’s passing. I gave him a date to respond to my email, but I never heard from him. My mom lived at that facility for four months that I would describe as a nightmare for her and for us, as her family. In the first two months after moving in, my mom fell five times due to the long time that PABs took to respond when she needed help. When the alarm of either her wheelchair or bed would go off, PABs would take between 20 to 30 minutes to respond claiming they were busy. In desperation, my mom would try to go to the bathroom on her own and fell as a result. I had to hire PABs to take care of her day and night since I did not want her to suffer and continue falling and injuring herself. In all the time that she lived at Vigi Pierrefonds, there was no physiotherapist, no exercise program, no massage therapy, no psychological support services and no dietician, and the nursing staff was not qualified to administer IVs when in other CHSLDs, they are. When I went for a tour of the facility before taking my mom there, the director told me that they had all those services, but it was not true. What they had was a doctor who did not demonstrate having any knowledge of geriatrics medicine when she was seeing my mom. They also had a very incompetent and arrogant day-time floor coordinator who is also auxiliary nurse of the first floor where my mom was. It was impossible to have a civilized conversation with him most of the time. The Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux visited Vigi Pierrefonds on Septembre 26, 2024 to evaluate their services. In the report that is available on the Ministry’s website, it is pointed out a number or deficiencies in that facility. This confirmed those I saw during the time my mom lived there. My advice to anyone is to stay away from that CHSLD and take their loved ones to a place where they would take good care of them.

Good morning, I had the privilege of visiting my aunt for a few months to help out my cousin. I have been concerned about elderly being mistreated at a senior residence . While visiting her I paid close attention to everything and everyone. To my surprise I have found zero mistreatment and excellent customer care. The people working at Viger Sante , work with a heart. It's not a job but a passion to them. I would recommend this senior residences to everyone , one can rest assured that their loved ones are well taken care of. One incident I will never forget was this women screaming and yelling for help, I peaked and saw a nurse entering her room, she went over her stroking her hair gently then kissing her on her forehead, the wonam calmed down within minutes . That was so beautiful seeing an orderly calming her gently. Many times I see the employees talking gently to the residents . Caroline Habib, I tip my hat to you and your team for hiring the right people for the job. Can I put my name on the waiting list in 20 years lol ? Thank you to one and all for taking such good care to all your residents , continua the good work.

The Staff is amazing with my Mom and they are very caring especially that they have a meeting with me every 3months with the Staff that is working with my Mom. Very Clean place and Activities are fun for the residence. Thank You to the Vigi Team! Awesome Job!
