I recently had an appointment with Dr. Safaa Azzouz at the "Institut universitaire de gériatrie de Montréal (IUGM)", and my experience was truly outstanding. From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly caring, professional, and attentive. Dr. Azzouz took the time to listen carefully to my concerns, explained everything clearly, and made me feel reassured and supported throughout the consultation, and demonstrated genuine compassion and expertise in geriatric care. In a healthcare system that sometimes gets criticism, my time at IUGM was a refreshing example of dedicated, high-quality care focused on seniors' well-being. I highly recommend Dr. Azzouz and the IUGM to anyone needing specialized geriatric services.

Disappointing and Heartbreaking Experience at Geriatrie de l'Université de Montréal I feel compelled to share my family’s heartbreaking experience with the rehabilitation team at the Geriatrie de l'Université de Montréal. My father, who suffered a stroke, was sent there for rehabilitation, and it turned out to be the worst decision we could have made. After 45 days of treatment, the team—specifically in ergotherapy and physiotherapy—proved to be the most unprofessional and uncaring I have ever encountered. Not only did they fail to provide effective rehabilitation, but their approach was outdated and ineffective. The activities they assigned were more suited for children rather than adults recovering from serious medical events. It was insulting and demoralizing to watch my father, an adult, being treated in such a patronizing manner. On multiple occasions, the staff dismissed him as "useless," showing a complete lack of empathy, compassion, and understanding for his condition. They left him feeling devalued and unsupported throughout the process. To make matters worse, despite the serious nature of his stroke, they abruptly kicked him out of the rehab program. The entire experience left my family feeling devastated and betrayed. It is incredibly painful to see loved ones treated with such disrespect when they are already vulnerable. However, I must mention that the nurses and "préposé(e)s" (care aides) were the absolute highlight of this experience. They were, without a doubt, the best part of my father’s time at this facility. Their compassion, professionalism, and dedication to their work stood out, and they were the only ones who truly treated my father with respect and kindness during his recovery. Please think twice before sending anyone you care about to this facility. The quality of care from the rehabilitation team is far below what one should expect from a medical institution, and I would never recommend this place to anyone in need of proper rehabilitation

PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES THERE CORRUPTED AND MISSLEADING ORGANIZATION IT'S EASIER TO PUT PATIENTS IN A WHEELCHAIR THAN HELPING THEM WALKING Unqualified medical staff; doctors, physiotherapists, and OTs are mean and inhuman. Not only they cause you harm and handicapped, still they will send you home under unsafe conditions ****Their elevators always break down*** Staff don't speak English Their goal is only to make patients leave as soon as possible but not to achieve their goals You can never be able to stand out for your rights. You will be treated poorly and your rights deprived

Flew to Montreal to bring mom home after her stay at the hospital and met some of the wonderful folks who nursed her back to health. Gotta say, when people complain about our medical system, my experiences have all been positive, Caring, good humored, concerned and very helpful staff, nurses and doctors at Institut Universitaire de Gériatrie de Montréal who called me with updates regularly. Thank you!!
